For the past year I’ve been working with my good pal John Surette (of seminal 80’s punk band “Boys Life” fame) on a rock opera album he’s recording. I get to play the tranny superhero girlfriend character (not type casting at ALL, right?) and through the coaching of the incomparable Dave Minehan (of Woolly Mammoth Studios) I’ve been accessing my in rock chick. “Less vibrato…” “Can you… sing less?” Wait til you hear my solo track “Too Cool For School.” My best friend quite literally didn’t believe it was me singing.
And now, here we are, about half way through the project, and we need some help bringing the project to completion. We’re asking for donations, anywhere from $1 to… let’s say $1 million, to help us finish this album. The cast of musicians playing and singing on this album is really amazing, and it’s been a privilege to work with so many of them. Plus, my BFF Katie Diamond created these awesome comix avatars of me and John! As she pointed out, note John’s tshirt and my fabulous fishnets. That’s commitment to detail, right there.
So be part of the magic - and take home some sweet swag! You can donate here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/889166475/tomorrow-the-world-a-punk-rock-opera-by-john-suret
